Doubts and limitations of Web-Based Translation tools continue to persist in the discussion of translation education and learning. Websites (e.g. www.seasite.niu.edu/trans) are developed to promote translation learning on line and to encourage learners to learn web-based tools used in translation. Students who have taken these SEASITE courses online indicated at their end-of-semester-evaluation that the sites promoted effective and independent translation learning. Limitations were expressed but were all pointed to the imperfections of online tools. These limitations include: inability of the database to save translated data occasionally, irregularity of the interface features of the applets. These types of problems can be attributed to faulty saving feature of the site or just the imperfections of web-based technology. Despite these concerns, students overall express high motivation in learning to use these online translation tools and as their words put it - "learn effective ways to translate." Student evaluations helped SEASITE administrators to improve the database in the server.
